# Sujith Puthran

> Sujith Puthran is a self-taught Indian figurative artist based in Mumbai, working
> across charcoal, watercolour, oil, pastel, coloured pencil and graphite. This site
> is his catalogue of original works — Bharatanatyam dancers, sadhus, the Varanasi
> ghats, Rajasthan, the Buddha series and mother-and-child — sold and commissioned
> directly by the artist.

He is a multi-medium figurative artist, not a painter in a single medium. Several of
the flagship works, including the Bharatanatyam drawings, are charcoal on paper. The
medium is an attribute of each individual work, stated on that work's own page, rather
than a description of the practice as a whole.

Born 23 February 1990 in Mulky, Udupi Taluka, Karnataka, with a childhood in Moloor.
No formal institutional training. The work is figurative and thematic, concerned with
faces, feeling and psychological depth. He has completed 200 or more commissioned
portraits, plus 15 custom paintings for international clients.

Group exhibitions at Vadehra Art Gallery (2009), Kalaneri Art Gallery, Jaipur (2010),
and Chitram Art Gallery, Kochi (2012).

Winner of the YICCA open international competition, and of YICCA winter 2014. First
place in the Tallenge International Art Contest No. 46 (2014). Eight awards from The
Wall Art Magazine between December 2012 and October 2013. Fourth place in the World
Painter Contest.

Work is held by MOT (India), Y5 Ltd (India), Ramada Plaza Palm Grove (India) and GE
Capital (California, USA).
